Just Close the door as you leave

Today, Thurs 18 April, the BBC have published another, and the most damaging, story to Jonathan Nunn to date. This follows on from the stories in Private Eye and The Daily Mail.

All these stories relate to alleged domestic abuse by Jonathan Nunn. Today the BBC have FIVE women all making allegations of controlling and abusive behaviour by Nunn over many years.

He has a conviction from 20 years ago. His story has been this was a one off loss of control.  These women challenge that narrative.

I find it telling that Nunn issued legal letters to Sarah Ward local journalist heading up the NN Journal Website. In a letter to me and others Anna Earnshaw WNC CEO and Catherine Whitehead the chief legal officer state that the council was on notice legally from Nunn which was why they stopped the live broadcast of the March council meeting.  All women, all warned off by the Leader of the council.

Andy Dolan from the Daily Mail, Jon Ironside from the BBC and Tim Minogue from Private Eye, all men, have they been given legal letters?

The council has a role to end domestic violence. When a woman is homeless fleeing domestic abuse they turn to the council for emergency accommodation. Are they likely to do this knowing that the council is headed up by a domestic abuser?

Nunn is an embarrassment. If he wishes, like Jonathan Aitkin, take up the “simple sword of truth and the trusty shield of fair play” to defend his character in the courts he is free to do so. However, that fight needs to be away from public office.

He has just one thing to do now, clear your desk and shut the door on the way out. It is time to go – resign from WNC entirely.
